Not what I expected
This game sure wasn't what I expected. Overall, the concept is fantastic, but the execution isn't par with what I thought it would be. The game, like so many others are saying, has a difficult campaign, and also focuses too much on it. It should have something like typical turn-based strategy games- large maps, and generating resources, like GBWG. The maps are all typically skinny and long, and height never is in your favor, nor can you make it in your favor. If the maps could be much larger and more squarish or more creative, along with replenish resources, the game would be much better. Also, there needs to be a multiplayer where you can play against AI, not just human players. And winning multiplayer games should award you with gems (if it doesn't already), because the gems are extremely limited, and if u reach a level u can't beat, u have to replay previous levels (if that gives u more gems, I've never tried). But the concept is great, and I thoroughly that this isn't a sequel, rather a polished spinoff of sorts. Good concept, but execution needs some re-thinking. But hey, Forsaken Media has been churning out games rather quickly, and I'm sure the updates to come will fix these problems.

Good idea, poor execution
Block Fortress shouldn't have been made small. The result is closer to a frustrating puzzle game than its brilliant predecessor.

I loved the idea of this game and still do, but the limited scale of it takes away all the fun of the original. You can't get creative or try innovative structures. The maps are all small, linear affairs and resources WAY too scarce. As far as I can tell, there isn't even a sandbox mode, just campaign and multiplayer.

Instead of the big, open maps of the original, Wars has tight, scripted spaces with limited resources that don't regenerate. The difficulty amps up quickly, but it wouldn't really matter if it didn't. You can't do much with 300 resources that don't regenerate and a fixed area to build in. The lack of options make it more of a puzzle game than a strategy. At higher difficulties you're too boxed in for more than one answer. (This also explains complaints about the difficulty. It's not fun to bang your head on something looking for the one right answer. The fact that, starting on level 4, the computer always gets an absolutely overwhelming tide of units also stinks.)

This game fixed a lot that wasn't broken. It would be absolutely amazing if they layered a campaign and offense onto the original game. The extremely limited scope of this one, though, is frustrating and a disappointment.

Poorly balanced and feature poor
1) No incremental progress on missions
2) No reward for failure, you lose because of a cheese spawn 30 minutes into a game, you just wasted 30 minutes, thanks for playing.
3) Opponents can stun-lock your hero to death with only 1 unit. Drastically reduces the strategic usage of your hero, making it effectively useless
4) Technology progression is unbalanced to the point of broken. There are levels where there are hordes sent against you and the highest you could have groomed your defenses is tech level 2 and 300 resources. However, due to a cheese spawn, even using your hero's best ability, you cannot survive.

It is difficult to imagine that the game was play tested past the first few levels. It is also somewhat galling that the developers would suggest purchasing upgrades given that effectively requires an IAP since it is 2x the prices to unlock if you can't beat all the levels.

I don't want to call the developers greedy, but they have an obligation to put forward a gameplay experience that is rewarding either incentivized or not. It appears they have chosen not to honor that obligation anymore.
